Hello everyone. Well, another weekend is looming, and I am only just in time for this challenge over at Less is More to make a one layer card with Spring flowers,so I will keep this brief. Well, as brief as I am able. Some of you are probably laughing now as I am not good at being minimal.
I used a set of stamps by Sheena Douglass called Floral Fantasy - Bluebells and Daffodils. This has to be a one layer card so I stamped one of the daffodil flowers three times using Memento London Fog ink, and then I stamped three more and cut them out to use as masks. I used Crafters Companion's Stick and Spray to temporarily stick them over the stamped images. I then selected three of the leaves and stamped them again using the London Fog ink. I decided to colour using some inks and a watercolour brush . The inks I used were Adirondacks in Sunshine Yellow, Butterscotch, Lettuce and Bottle, and Distress ink Spiced Marmalade. I stamped the 'Daffodil' stamp using Memento Tuxedo Black, and then finished by adding some Adirondack in Stonewashed to give the impression of a nice blue sky having first masked the flowers.
I must admit to finding one layer cards quite difficult, and when I had finished I wasn't totally sure that I liked the result, but decided to go with it. After taking the photos the finish wasn't as tidy as I would have liked as some of my brush strokes were a bit wayward but close ups are never very forgiving, and I am rather a perfectionist. Anyway, I hope you all like it.
Thank you for dropping by and have an enjoyable weekend.

I didn't make it this week (so what's new?? LOL)
Wouldn't mind I think I'm getting better at one layer too!!
Lovely daffodils, and your colouring is great! Have a good weekend.
Wow gorgeous Daffodils, I can't wait until they are actually blooming here, but we are a long ways from that happening, way too much snow and below normal tempature. Have a great weekend, Shirleyx
Hi Pat, I love your daffodils so beautifully coloured and very cheerful against the blue sky.

Your card is lovely so stop being so critical of your work!! Think about Nature, if you look at it closely it's never perfect. That's what I was told by my teacher when painting my lamp. It's true too.
Can't wait for the next one. Keep up the good work xx
I think your card is just perfect. That's a great job with the Adirondack ink water coloring. That's a technique I can't seem to master. Loved the way you did the stamping, masking, adding in more flowers. I think you nailed the One Layer just grand. Love these sparkling bright cheery daffodils. We have some blooming in our front flower bed. TFS & Hugs. Happy wkend too.
Beautiful card.

I think your ink colouring has a look of watercolour inks to it. It is not supposed to look perfect. Just sort of dreamy looking.
Pretty card and really liked the way you masked and added more elements to your stamping.
I love everything about this card --- the lettering, the brightly coloured, cheery blooms, the soft curl of the leaves --- it just epitomises the feeling of Springtime! Love Marilyn. xx
The whole effect of watercoloring is not staying in the lines, so I think you did a beautiful job with these daffodils! (Perfect for spring!) I know what you mean, though. I adore watercoloring, but then in the end I want to overstamp again to put nice crisp black lines and sharpen it up. We are so conflicted, lol!! Have a great week! Hugs, Darnell
Pat I do miss having a clothesline. We can't have one where we live now (and plus I wouldn't use it in the winter time. It was easier in Florida as we had more sunny warm days. Just had to be careful when it was pollen season. Then used the dryer. Nothing beats sundried sheets, and no I didn't iron them! My Mom did though..that's how I learned to iron. Don't iron any more these days...if I can get out of it!) Hugs
Wow! Beautiful watercolouring - perfectly done!
Wow! A bright and beautiful reminder of Spring!
Just to clarify, Mary has a blog post about the 'proper' clothesline which us older ladies remember using ourselves, and also remember our mother's using. So if you fancy a bit of nostalgia hop over there for a look. She also has some lovely cards too.
