Spring Bouquet

Hi everyone.  I haven't posted here for quite a while as I have been unwell due to trouble with gallstones which have rather laid me low and consequently my mojo has taken a holiday, but today has returned hopefully not to disappear again.  I have been on a very low fat diet which means food has been very plain and uninteresting, but the only good thing is that I have lost a fair bit of weight and presumably will continue to lose a bit more until I have the operation, which I hope will mean I will be able to eat more or less normally afterwards.

Anyway, enough of my woes.   Here is the card I have made for a friend's birthday which is tomorrow.  I just hope that she doesn't decide to look at my blog in the meantime.

I used a freebie embossing folder and stamp set which came with a recent magazine, and as you will have probably realised I do get tempted quite a bit by this sort of offer.  There is also a pretty embossing folder border which I didn't use on this occasion.

I started with a snippet of white card and embossed using the embossing folder and using a brayer I lightly rolled over it wth Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to bring out the pattern.

Looking at the shape in the middle of the lacy frame I decided to cut a mat from another snippet of white card, using a Spellbinders Rounded Square die which was the right size to fit the space.  I then stamped the flowers on to this using Versafine Smokey Grey ink, and coloured using my Lyra Aqua Brush Markers which I scribbled on to my glass mat, using a waterbrush to apply them, as I didn't want the colours to be too strong.  I added a piece of thin white foam to the back before mounting this and the embossed background on to a 6" square white base card.

To finish I used another snippet of white card back with Stick It adhesive, and sponged some Peacock Feather DI which didn't look quite the right colour, so I then added the blue Lyra brush marker in the same blue used to colour the flowers over the top, and then die cut the sentiment.

Thank you for visiting today and I hope to be back again soon.

This is so beautiful Pat. Your friend is going to love this card. The flowers are so pretty and I love how you've added just a bit of colour to the embossed background. Very clever! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour!

Sorry you've not been well. I had the same thing 20 years ago. It is very painful. Thankfully, the surgery is must less intrusive that it used to be many years ago. Hopefully you'll be able to have your surgery soon and will be pain free. Take care. xx

This is a beautiful bouquet and so perfect with the lacy embossed background, Pat! I can sympathize with your diet as I had to do the same thing at one time. I was healthier, but it's much more fun now to be able to eat whatever I want! Thanks for sharing this beauty with us at CAS Watercolour!

Lovely card Pat - your colouring is fabulous! The embossed 'frame' is perfect as well - clever to add some soft colours as well.

Hope you're feeling better than you have been - a friend had that same op. about three years ago and it made such a difference! She's back to usual as far as eating goes :)
