Hi everybody. Well, it's that time of the month again when Mo over at Scraps of Life by Scrappymo holds her Rudolph Days Challenge. It actually runs from the 25th until the end of the month. This is a NBUS die which was a thank you from Mo for being on the Design Team last year and this is it's first outing. I found a great technique, another from Jennifer McGuire using window dies and an inked inlay which worked well with this die. I will try to explain it as I go along, but for a more in depth explanation I have linked to her post and video. Anyway, here is the card.
I started with a piece of white card and cut the Memory Box Reindeer Circle die twice. I then stuck some pieces of removable tape over the back of one of them, and using my Distress Inks in Pine Needles, Mowed Lawn, Spiced Marmalade, Festive Berries and Fired Brick I blended the ink and covered the whole piece and the surrounding area too. I removed the tape and took out the two large background pieces leaving just the deer, and mounted this on to Stick It adhesive. I then took the two white background pieces from the second die cut and placed them into the spaces. Obviously the pieces that are left make another topper with the reverse colours, i.e. a white deer and coloured background. I found one of my stitched circle dies which is slightly larger and die cut it out. I then mounted this on to craft foam for added dimension.
I decided to emboss the 6" square white base card with a Falling Snow Stencil and I don't know why but it doesn't seem to have embossed very deeply. I then mounted the topper having first added some gold stars, and gave it some glittery shine with my Wink of Stella pen on just the deer and the coloured outside edge, again not really visible here.
I finished by die cutting a sentiment from the craft foam and coloured it with some Brilliance Galaxy Gold Ink. It does take quite a long time to dry and being a little impatient I helped it along with my heat gun being careful not to get too close as I didn't want to melt it.
Thank you for looking at my blog today and see you again soon.
I am also entering the following challenges:
Christmas Card Challenges - No. 11.
Sweet Stampin' Christmas - Anything Christmas.
