Twofer - Silhouette Cat called Blue

Hi there.  I am rushing in at the last moment with two cards for Darnell's Twofer Challenge where we have to use the same stamp/die for both cards but created for two different occasions.  I missed it last time and was determined that I would make it in time for this month's challenge.  I was away for most of last week and time is running out.  The only stamp I have which fits the bill is this sweet cat from Indigoblu called Blue's Look Out.  Here are the two cards together which I am entering into the Twofer Card Challenge No. 4.

For this first card I used just part of the stamp and a white stitched die cut square which was lying around on the table just waiting to be used.  I inked the stamp up using my Lyra Aqua Brush Duo Pens, spritzed it with water and stamped it on to the card.  I then used the pens to add little bits of extra colour and to fill in the background by laying the colour down on my glass mat and using a waterbrush for a softer look.  I also add a few black lines for definition around the flowers and flourishy leaves with a fine micron pen.

I decided to mount this on to a snippet of kraft card on which I stamped a pattern using parts of the same stamp and my Versamark Ink to give a watermark effect.  In the photo it doesn't show up very well, but in real life it has a soft pattern which doesn't detract from the main image too much.  I then stamped a sentiment on to the kraft card using Ground Espresso Distress Ink.

I finished by mounting the whole thing on to a 6" square white base card.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Pixie's Crafty Workshop - No. 324 where we use our snippets of card and paper etc.
Stamping Sensations April Challenge - One for the Girls.
Happy Little Stampers April Watercolour Challenge - Anything Goes (no twist).
Fashionable Stamping Challenge - No 134 Animals.

For the second card I smooshed some Salty Ocean and Wild Honey Oxide Inks on to a piece of white card.  I did try to get the Salty Ocean at the top and the Wild Honey further down and after drying I added a bit more Salty Ocean over the Wild Honey to give a more yellowy green tone, and then also added a bit of Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink at the top to give some variety to the blue.   I have noticed that the Oxide Ink colours do look quite different to the ordinary Distress Inks when mixed together.  I then stamped the cat image using Versafine Majestic Blue Ink.  I then die cut this using a Crealies Pierced Rectangle die.

I added a sentiment at the bottom using Salty Ocean Oxide Ink and mounted the rectangle on to a piece of foam for added dimension, and then mounted this on to a 7" x 5" white base card.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

The Artistic Stamper - Birds and Bees (there are three little silhouette birds as part of the stamp).
613 Avenue Create Challenge - No. 208 Anything Goes (no twist).

Thank you for taking a look at my blog today and I hope to see you again soon.

I appreciate that you scooted in this month with your pretty kitty, Pat! Your cards really show how sensational and different one image can look when used in two different designs! Kitty does look very thoughtful in the bed of pretty flowers and the matting is fantastic! And I think stamping the kitty as a blue silhouette against the beautifully blended background in your twofer was inspired! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #4! Hugs, Darnell

Beautiful image Pat. Love how amazing they look coloured so differently. Great use of some wonderful techniques! Your brown kitty with the sweet flowers is so pretty and soft. The tone-on-tone stamping on your kraft mat adds an extra dimension - very creative! Your smooshed DOX in background is gorgeous and works perfectly with the image stamped in blue. Great designs for both cards! Thanks for playing along with us at Twofer Card Challenge! xx

Two beautiful cards Pat and totally different. I’m so pleased that you mentioned who the stamps are by, as I adore this stamp and I’ll keep an eye out for it. I love both of your cards but I think I’m drawn to the first one as I really like the colours that you’ve used. I also think it works really well with the Kraft card. Crafty hugs, Sandra x

One stamps and two such different looks Pat. I always love blue and green together (despite what my Gran always said "blue and green should never be seen") and the blue stamping in the deeper shade works so well. Then there is the coloured one and maybe that just edges it for me, but both lovely.

Many thanks for joining in with our 'For the Girls' theme at Stamping Sensations challenge.

Such a cute kitty, Pat ... the colouring on the first is soft and lovely, fabulous with the subtle versamark stamped panel! The smooshy DOX background is deliciously dreamy on your birthday card ... a sweet spot for the bold blue stamping! Glad you made it under the wire this month ... thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)

What different looks you have got here with the same stamp Pat! Really like them both so difficult to choose a fave but maybe the blue/green one just shades it!
Thanks for sharing with us at Stamping Sensations too! x

Wow Pat, love both of your amazing creations, the cat is so cute nestled in amongst the flowers. The watercolours look of the first one is gorgeous, and how different the image looks in the silhouette, love them, Kate x x

Outstanding use of your kitty in these 2 cards, which look so different with the treatments you've done. I really liked the watermark effect on the kraft background too. Both colorways look so pretty! Good for you managing to squeak in at the last...I did the same thing! TFS & Hugs

Zwei sehr schön gestaltete Katzenkarten, eine geniale Idee sie hinter Ranken und Blumen zu verstecken. Vielen Dank für die Teilnahme bei der Fashionable Stamping Challenge.
