Music Speaks

Hi there.  This is a birthday card that I made for our DS in Australia and which he has received luckily in time for his birthday today, so I can show it here.  The postal service in Australia can be a bit random, and even when you allow lots of time things still sometimes arrives late, luckily not so this time.  I used a Visible Image stamp called Music Speaks and one of their stencils called Strobes.

I found a snippet of white card and coloured it with Salty Ocean and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide inks and some Blueprint Sketch DI around the edges, using my gelli plate to mix the colours on and then spritzed with water before laying the card over to transfer the colour.  I wanted there to be a circular shape of lighter colour where I knew the guitar would be placed.  I then stamped the music stamp twice using Hickory Smoke DI as I didn't want it to stand out too much.  I then placed the Strobes stencil over the top and ran it through my machine to emboss it and added some silver gilding wax to the embossing.  I'm afraid that catching the shine is really difficult, but in real life it certainly glints in the light.

I found another snippet of white card and stamped the guitar using Blueprint Sketch DI and then using a silver glitter pen I highlighted the words and the pegs, and then fussy cut it out.

I then stamped the words with the Blueprint Sketch DI on to a further snippet of white card stamping each work individually by masking the other words off when inking, and blended a little more of the same colour just to take the whiteness off the card.  I then added the die cut Happy Birthday and the matted layer using some mor snippets of dark blue before sticking it on to the white 6" square card.

Thank you for looking at my blog today and I'll see you again soon.

Pat, I am in full agreement with the following:
'The postal service in Australia can be a bit random'
This can be a wee bit of a frustration for me but I am not the best at mailing things on time to start with so I am doomed to failure.
I love your background for this card; works perfectly with the guitar.

So glad the wonderful card arrived on time. Love how you radiated the colours from the centre and the stencil used as dry embossing looks great x

Love the 'inner glow' behind this fab guitar. I enlarged the picture after reading about the music score, and it shows up so pretty in the larger pic. I love the way you've embossed those rays coming out from the golden glow, and this is just a gorgeous birthday card. Well done. (thx for the gelli mixing tip too!)

Just fabulous Pat! You really are so artistic. And using your Gelli plate as well, sigh, mine id abandoned as a total failure I'm afraid.

Hugs

That strobe effect background looks great with the guitar. I used to take part in a swap each month to Australia but had to stop as my cards were taking so long to get to my recipients that the reveal dates were long gone . Hugs Mrs A.

Gorgeous card Pat, your gelli print looks fantastic, I'm holding back on buying one of these as I have so many other things bought and not used...yet lol! It's disappointing to hear the mail is so bad getting here. I bought a few things from Hobbycraft in the UK and was amazed that they arrived in about 2 weeks. I'm up in northern NSW in the country too, so not in a city. Cathy x
