Birthday Squirrel

Hi everybody.  This is a masculine card featuring the same squirrel stamp used on my last card here, and this was supposed to be on the card but I decided this darker shade of blue didn't look right so it was left sitting on my table.  I also used the set of Torn Edge Squares..I'm a bit obsessed with these at the moment..lol, and also a Lavinia stencil called Laurel.  I'm still keeping it simple at the moment.

I began by die cutting the piece of card with the squirrel on using a smaller Torn Edge Die and then added the sentiment using the same Versafine Majestic Blue Ink..both the squirrel image and the sentiment have been heat embossed using WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder.  I then die cut a larger one from the set, about 5" square and then dry embossed the leaves onto it.  I accidentally did it wrong and got the raised leaves on the reverse of the die cut but decided that I would leave it like this and I ink blended using several green Distress Inks to highlight the stencilling, namely Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover and Pine Needles.  I gradually darkened the look until I was happy as I wanted to make sure that the leaf shapes showed up sufficiently which I think they now do, but without making it too dark wanting to keep the fresh spring colours.  I put the 6" square card together and raised up the central mat with some craft foam for added dimension.

Just before I finish I have noticed that over the last few weeks my follower numbers have dropped, only by a few and maybe they have just decided to leave, but then within the last day they dropped by two more which does seem a bit odd.  I wondered if others have notice that suddenly the number of followers has changed.  Maybe this is down to blogger so I had a look at a few of the ones I follow to compare and all seemed OK, so it is a bit of a conundrum.

Anyway thank you for visiting me today and I'll see you again soon.

It's lovely Pat especially the Squirrel which I have a soft spot for, they are so busy in the garden now so makes your card just perfect for our Spring theme at We Love Stamping challenge, thanks so much for joining us. My thanks also for joining us at Allsorts.

Eventually got my hands on those dies!

Super card Pat, I love the leafy background you’ve creation.
I occasionally lose the odd one or two followers. I don’t know if it’s because the blogs have been inactive for a long time and blogger has deleted them. I do know that you can only follow 200 blogs now. As some challenge rules say you have to follow them perhaps some bloggers have to stop following other blogs to get below 200. I used to follow more than 200 blogs, but when I wanted to follow a new challenge blog it wouldn’t let me. I finally discovered that if I stopped following some blogs to get me under 200, I could follow new blogs until I got to the maximum number. Hope that makes sense.

Another great design using that amazing squirrel, Pat! I think it works for any gender and any age! I love the stenciling and those torn edge dies! Thank you for playing with this week's I.D.E.A.S Calendar and linking to the gallery!📌

As for followers, yes, I have seen my numbers yoo-yoo, mostly down over time. I think a lot of the yoo-yooing has to do with Blogger gremlins and some of it is people doing blog cleanup and removing blogs they no longer follow.

I've been having trouble with following new blogs. Have you noticed that? The box is there, but when I click follow, it says it failed. I heard Blogger doesn't let you follow more than 200 blogs, but then I heard that's bogus. I follow over 2,000, so I'm not about to sit here and delete 1,800 of them! As you said, a conundrum and a frustrating one! 🤷‍♀️

A lovely card, as always and I can see why you like those torn edge dies which give a bit more interest to any card. Thank you for sharing this card with us at Allsorts challenge.

Can't say I'd noticed if there's been a drop off in followers but then I've not been watching the figures. I will try to keep an eye on them. Guess it might just be one more unexplained anomaly or quirk associated with Blogger 🙄

I'm loving your torn edge dies, Pat! They "tear" so much better than my fingers do! Your leaves are so pretty with the texture and varied shades of green! A perfect place to put this squirrel!
