Sails Galore!

Hi all.  I have been rather lazy since the start of the new year and haven't been doing a lot of card making, but I did make this card for the son of one of my cousins whose birthday was last weekend.  I used a NBUS Couture Creations Embossing Folder called Grand Sunset Sails.  I don't quite understand where the 'sunset' comes from as there is no indication of the setting sun, and my version is definitely a daytime scene.

I started by embossing it on to a snippet of white card, and then using various Memento inks straight from the pad ( they are teardrop shaped ink pads so it is quite easy to use them in this way by using the tip for the finer detail and then flat for the rest), and to enhance the detail a bit more I used some Spectrum Noir Pencils.  I did have to cut it down a bit to fit my square card.

I mounted this on to a snippet of dark green card and then finished by making a banner from another snippet of the green card and heat embossed the sentiment using Perfect Medium and WOW Gold Embossing Powder.  I thought it needed something more so I pinpointed one particular yacht on the EF and used a snippet of Gold Mirri card, and after embossing I cut it out and adhered it to the banner.

Thank you for dropping by today.

Pat x

I am just in time to enter it over at the NBUS Challenge which the lovely Darnell is running over at djkardkreations.

I am also entering:

I am at your entry in the NBUS challenge for commenting and reading through it and then the comments, I see that you won a $50 SSS voucher! Yippie!! I'm so delighted for you, Pat!!

I sat here mesmerized by the technique you used to create this work of art that needs to be framed and hung on the wall! You "painted" with your wee ink pads! Every time I've tried that I blotch it something fierce. I am mega impressed!! And then, THEN, to have the creative eye to emboss it again in the shiny gold and cut it out for
your focal embellie is genius! Thank you so much for joining in my NBUS Challenge #3! Enjoy your day! Hugs, Darnell

WOW! Don't think I've seen this EF in my travels, but it's very pretty the way you've used it. Fab use of the teardrop inks too...you're so clever with your supplies. What sent this one way over the top is that gold mirror sailboat...it really draws the eye right in, to enjoy all the texture of the embossing & the way you've highlighted the emboss with your inks. A great look and what a fabulous masculine card. I see from Darnell's comment that you've had a stunning win at SSS - Way to GO! I know you'll purchase some wonderful new supplies that I can enjoy vicariously by seeing the beauty you create with whatever you select. Well done!!! Always happy when I see a blog buddy be a winner. TFS & Hugs too.
