A Winter Deer

Hi there.  I have been rather slow to get going since Christmas but birthdays are beginning to pop up so had to try and get Mr. Mojo licked into shape ..lol.  This is for a male family member and I decided to use a Serendipity stamp I got about three months ago with the intention of using it for Christmas cards but didn't.  Luckily it is the sort of stamp that can be made any season you want it to be so I made it wintry with just a hint of show.

I used a snippet of kraft card for a different look and stamped using Archival ink which I then heat embossed using WOW Clear Embossing Powder.  I decided to use my Spectrum Noir pencils to add a bit of colour and I used a white SN pencil in conjunction with a white gel pen to add little bits of white for snow mainly on the tree trunk and branches and also on the hills behind which I added for a bit of background interest.  The colours of the hills are a little bluer in the photo than in real life as I wanted them to be a more dark bluey grey with snowy tops but the kraft card does affect the way the colours look, but am fairly happy with the result.

I used a snippet of copper mirri card to back the image and also die cut a sentiment from the same snippet, and then mounted it on an A6 base card.  I nearly always use square cards but I only have this shape of card in kraft and some extra sheets which are 8" x 8" so not big enough to make a folded 6" x 6" card.

Thanks for stopping by today.

I am entering the following challenge:

I'm loving this kraft look and your pencil work is just magnificent on this one. A wonderful scene to have with this deer, and your hills look great to me - Also love the copper sentiment & mat...adds just the right amount of gleam to the muted shades of the composition. Really gorgeous. TFS, Happy wkend, Hugs

A super card for a man Pat. A lovely stamp and beautifully coloured as usual. I like the effect of doing it on kraft card as well.

Wow Pat - what a great card for a man. Such a lovely design and so beautifully made as well. Kraft card is certainly very 'in' right now - I nipped into Hobbycraft and bought some Kraft card blanks yesterday to try out a coupel of ideas.
