CAS Geometric + Flower

Hi there all.  Here we are at the end of another week and very nearly the end of another month.  Where does the time go.  Talking about time I saw this sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch and decided I would use it to make a card but by the time I finished it I realised that I had just missed it.  I was away on holiday all last week and when I came back I had several cards to make so have been busy doing that and have not had time to post anything until now.  As you can probably guess I am not the most organised of people ..lol.  Anyway here is the sketch.

....  and here is my card.

I used a That Special Touch Mask - Chevrons which I embossed using a snippet of white card and then coloured using Stonewashed and Pink Sherbert Adirondack inks and some Shaded Lilac Distress Ink which I applied with blending foam.  I die cut the piece with a stitched square die and then cut the circular shape using a stitched circle die.

I placed the shape in the centre of my square base card but didn't stick it down so I could judge where to stamp the little flower stamp.  This is a Claritystamp Stamp Club stamp which I hadn't used before and decided that being quite small it would fit nicely in the circle.  I hovered with the stamp which I inked up with  the Stormy Sky DI and then moved the chevron embossed snippet to one side whilst I stamped the flower.  I coloured it using the blue ink but decided to add a bit more depth with my Spectrum Noir pencils to give a more pinky blue colour.  I also added a little more blue and pink ink through and around the flower to highlight it a bit more.

I then adhered the shape into place and made a fishtail banner for the sentiment from a snippet of white card which I stamped using Stormy Sky DI and glued it in place on the topper.

Thank you for dropping by and I really appreciate your continued interest in my blog.  Have a good weekend.

I am entering the following challenges:

Addicted to CAS  - Chevron.
Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge  - Stamping.
Addicted to Stamps - CAS.
CASology - Lines.
Pixie's Crafty Workshop - Week 187 where we use up our snippets (just a couple this time).

P.S.  I really did want to enter the Less is More Challenge seeing that it is a special week with Di as Guest Designer and Chrissie's birthday too, but didn't realise that they only allow five challenges to be entered including their own so had to scrub it as I had already entered five.

A beautiful, elegant and creative card Pat.
Love your use of the chevrons and your part-diecut circle is a brilliant way to frame the floral image. Thanks for playing along at ATCAS. Sarah x

So pretty Pat. Love the blended inks over your chevron backdrop. And the design and layout is fantastic with the partial circle aperture. Your pretty flower fits in there perfectly. Thanks for playing along at ATCAS and Happy Little Stampers. xx

Simply gorgeous. At first I thought it was an inlay, but then read the how-to's. This is a splendid design with the chevron stencil. Also loving the soft color hues. I like the way you've placed the partial circle off to the side...so much interesting detail. Well done! TFS & have a great wkend

This is so pretty. Love all those soft blues and purples you used. You are not the only one who creates for a challenge and then misses it! I do it all the time. At least you still have the card, right? Thanks so much for playing along with CASology this week. You are well before our deadline.

I love the fabulous design of this card Pat. The off set circle cut out makes for an interesting look and is the perfect place for the prettily coloured flower. I like the chevron background as well and the soft colour shading.

Wow and double wow Pat! I left a comment asking you to link up your Divas card - and now am going to ask you to link this one into the Playground - a snippet of white card DOES count, and we all have a ton of those. It's just gorgeous! I love how you did the cutout and then stamped the flower by just hovering. I would have lightly pencilled round the inside of the cutout whilst it was in situ, remove the layer and then stamped using the pencilled outline as a guide - otherwise the stamping would have been waaaaaaay off beam, probably in the far corner!! Tee, hee :)

Hugs

Don't you wish you had a dollar for every time you just miss a challenge, Pat! I'm organized and I STILL miss them! I did the same thing yesterday on my post and had to go back in and edit to take one out. It is too bad you missed this one, though, as this definitely is a winner to me!! Enjoy your day! Hugs, Darnell
