Hi everybody. I have a male family birthday to make a card for and I decided to use a NBUS/never before used stamp from Serendipity Stamps called Winter Fenceline, but I have adapted it to an Autumn scene instead.
I started by stamping the image on to a snippet of white card using Versafine Smokey Grey ink and coloured it using Distress Inks in Spiced Marmalade, Walnut Stain, Mowed Lawn, Stormy Sky and Faded Jeans and applied with a water brush to give a very washy watered down look and I did mix the green with a little of the brown because I didn't want the colours to look too bright. I did add the birds in the sky which weren't part of the image. I then die cut the image with a stitched square die and matted it on to a snippet of white card.
The background is a snippet of a piece I made using Sheena Douglass' faux leather technique which you can find here and for the embossing I used a Craft Concepts EF called More Dots. I used it on a card I made over a year ago, featuring a pair of jeans with a leather belt, and it had been languishing amongst my bits and pieces ever since, the post is here if you wish to take a look. I had a light bulb moment and thought this would make a good background so mounted this on to the base card before adding the topper.
I finished the card with the sentiment on this double fishtail banner shape made from another snippet of white card.
Thank you for joining me today and I do appreciate all your lovely comments.

You've created a beautiful scene, great work making the winter trees to autumn. Have a great weekend, Shirleyxx
It looks just like a water colour. Very effective. I love the colours you have used. I have loads of Faux leather pages lying around at the moment as I have just taught a class at the local U3A on how to make Sheen's little books. It really does feel like chamois leather. Love how you have added it behind the image. Hugs Mrs A.
This card is stunning! What a talent you have at making a scene look realistic and magical! I wanted to hop into this card and stroll down that tree-lined path! I love how you gave this the look of a dreamy watercolor scene. It really is more of a piece of art than a mere card and I think it conveys Fall so perfectly. How clever to make an autumn-themed birthday card! Beautiful detail here and it was a joy to read about your creative process. Thanks for sharing your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
Pat this is an absolutely beautiful piece of work. The way you've stamped and painted the image is such a great watercolour look. The faux leather background looks wonderful too. I really enjoyed reading how your beautiful card came together. Barbxx
Just fab Pat. Great watercolouring - lovely! x
Gorgeous Pat! The image is just beautiful and mounting it on the faux leather background is a brilliant idea! As Barb says, it's always so lovely to read how your end result was reached - something new to learn every time!
Wonderful card, such a lovely little scene

Love the fabulous stamp you have used here Pat,and the beautiful water colour effect, such lovely autumnal shades.
A beautiful scene indeed, using any season's colors. But I especially liked the way you've adapted it to autumn. That sky just looks like a cold fall day, with perhaps a bit 'of weather' on the way. The golds are just what we sometimes see here, when the sun is shining through the trees, creating a halo that is so pretty. Love the old weathered fence. this one will be a big hit! And that faux leather background looks super with the focal image too. Never tried this technique, but it is most effective on this lovely card. TFS & Have a great weekend. (forgot to say: your watercoloring is UH-mazing!)
WOW, Pat your watercolouring of the image is so great, you can frame this card and hang it against a wall!! That is such a great image stamp and it is really beautiful in the autumn colours!!!! Love the faux leather bg!!! Such a wonderful masculine birthday card!!!!!
Have a great weekend!!!!
This is a work of art more than a card, your scene is so serene and I love it!
