CAS Owl Birthday

Hi everyone.  I have a male birthday coming up shortly and decided to use this Technique Tuesday owl which a crafting friend gave me so thank you to that lovely lady.  I had in mind to enter the LIM Challenge which this time has asked for a one layer card and has the title Curve, and this is what I came up with.

I cut a mask from copy paper using an XCut Circle Die and laid it straight on to the base card.  I stamped the owl using my Misti into the circle using Versafine Smokey Gray ink and then masked the owl using Pebeo Drawing Gum.  When it was dry using a round blending tool and Adirondack Stonewashed and Lettuce ink I added some to the inside of the circle making some clouds with a hand cut shape, and then using the edge of the blending tool formed some distant hills.  I then stamped some tree branches using Adirondack Espresso Ink.

I rubbed the drawing gum from the owl and coloured using a waterbrush with Distress Inks in Walnut Stain, Black Soot and Adirondack Sunshine Yellow.  I also decided to add a setting sun and a few simple brush strokes to represent distant trees.

I finished the card with a sentiment stamped in the Misti using the Verafine Smokey Gray Ink and heat embossed with WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder.  I then decided to add three dry embossed lines for a border.

It is also Darnell of djkardkreations is holding her 2nd Annual April Fool's Boo Boo Hop and NBUS Challenge No. 11.  As I don't have any boo boos I am entering this with  a NBUS owl stamp and a freebie sentiment which hasn't been inked before either.  Luckily I have made the challenge which finishes tomorrow.

Thank you for dropping by today and I hope to see you soon.

I would also like to enter the following challenges:

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Happy Birthday.
Addicted to Stamps and More - Anything Goes.

Absolutely fantastic Pat! Such great use of masking and inking to create a perfect scene, and the addition of the score lines is a fab touch that really grounds it all. A super example of how one layer cards can have masses of visual interest and impact while still being CAS. Love it! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Less is More :)

Oh, you've created a beautiful little scene with the owl, Pat - it looks like a small work of art and you could frame it!!!! Your card is really beautiful and I love the scorelines you've added to finish it off perfectly!!!!! No way I would be able to make anything like this - definitely not artistic enough, but clearly you have lots are artistic genes!!!! Well done, my friend!!!!
Have a great day!!!!!

What a fantastic design you've created for a great one layer card. First, the sponging and coloring on this owl is marvelous, loved your idea of the masking a circle. Adding the rows of scoring created such texture and interest...Oh my, this is lovely, Pat. Hope you are continuing to feel better. TFS & Hugs. Happy Easter.
