Stencilled Tile

Hi there.  A have a male birthday coming up, in fact the card is going to be late arriving unfortunately due  to me not getting it in the post before Easter, but better late than not at all as they say.  I recently found some bargain stencils in one of the mega stores.  I picked up three I liked and when I got home I found there were in fact five in each pack.  They are obviously not as robust as the more expensive ones but I managed to make this card using one of them which has a pattern of leaves, and I did dry emboss with it too, which worked reasonably well.  Here is the card.

I started with a snippet of white card which I die cut with a stitched square die.  I then blended some Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn and Spiced Marmalade.  I decided to do the bleaching with water technique by spraying water on to the stencil.  I then laid it down over the stitched square and left in place for a good ten seconds or so before lifting it away and using a piece of kitchen towel to remove the excess water and with it some of the colour.  I dried it thoroughly with my heat tool and then covered it with Versamark Ink and added WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder and heat set it.

I then decided that it would look nicer with a darker colour behind it and decided to cut a stitched square slightly larger, using another snippet of white card, and this time I dry embossed it with the stencil and then coloured it first with Walnut Stain Distress Ink, but thought that it would look better a bit darker so used some Black Soot Distress Ink over the top and also used the WOW Clear Gloss EP  on this too.

At this point I realised that if I if I made a frame of the dark layer and inlaid the stencilled layer I could enter this into the CAS Mix Up Challenge this month.  I have also included a stamped sentiment and the third personal choice item on the card is the ink blending and water bleaching.

I also decided to layer on to a snippet of gold mirror card, and I stamped the sentiment using Versafine Smokey Gray Ink and heat embossed with the Clear EP.  I used a cream card approximately 6"  square.

Thank you for visiting today and see you again soon.

LOVE that stunning focal piece Pat! You have made a great job of the 'bleaching with water' technique and that darker colour shows it off to it's best advantage too! I hope you had a lovely Easter weekend and that the following week is a good one! Love n’ Hugs. Hazel xx

This is just marvelous! Your ghosting technique looks splendid. What a great effect you've created with this, and yay for you at parlaying it into so many challenges. Love the colors and the black frame really pops them. The scant gold frame on the outside is just the right touch of bling. TFS & Hugs
