With Sympathy

Hi there.  I have one of those cards today that we unfortunately need but never want to have to send.  This is the fourth person we know that has sadly passed away since the start of this year and hopefully there will be no more for some time to come.

I used a stamp from Penny Black called Lofty and stamped it three times on to a snippet of white card using Archival Black Ink and WOW Clear Embssing powder heat embossed over the top, and then stamped it three more times using second generation ink.  I wanted to make an oval shape of it but my oval dies were just too small so I pencilled round the outside of the largest die and cut the shape by hand which made it just large enough.

I found another snippet of white card and embossed it with a Couture Creations Embossing Folder called Compassionate.  My white base card was roughly 7" x 5" and I cut the embossed piece to fit this leaving a space at the bottom for the sentiment which I again stamped in Black Archival and heat embossed with the Clear EP.

I was going to leave it black and white but decided it did seem a bit stark so introduced some colour with the Tumbled Glass Distress Ink which I applied with some blending foam.

Before I go I would like to introduce a new follower who is Mac Mable and her blog is here.  She is very clever with her inks and watercolouring and uses lots of great techniques so if you haven't been to her blog before you will find lots there to inspire.

Thank you for visiting today and I'll see you again soon.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Pixie's Crafty Workshop - Weeks 281/2  where we use up our snippets of card and paper etc.

So sorry to hear you needed a sympathy card, Pat! You created an elegant card! I love that you added some blue shades by blending! It looks so beautiful on the embossing and on the edge of the oval panel!

A perfect card for such a sad occasion. The stamped image is beautiful as is the embossed background. You would never know the oval was hand cut!

We don't want to send them but I'm sure a beautiful card helps. The little touch of colour really lifts it.

I love this card Pat - really perfect for the occasion. So sad, we too have a spate of friends and acquaintances dying here. Not a great start to 2017.

Here's to happier times, and wishing you improvement in your own issues as well.

Hugs

Di xx

Beautiful sympathy card Pat. I'm sure it will bring comfort to the family. Wonderful design with the first and second generation stamping to create a garden of blooms. It also adds lots of movement to the card. Great job handcutting the oval. It looks perfect. And I love the texture from the dry embossed background. xx

Hi Pat, Thanks for stopping in at my blog :) I hope you are doing well. Your elegant card is gorgeous, perfect for sympathy. Yes unfortunately we need them, we have as well earlier this year as two sweet aunts of Jim's passed away. We are doing well and looking forward to changes but with some anxiety. Thanks for your words of encouragement, they really do help :) Take good care, Shirley xx

A very beautiful and tasteful card for a sad occasion. We've also had several losses and serious illness amongst friends and acquaintances this year. I had hoped it would be a better year than 2016. Barbxx
