Hi there. This is my first forray into cardmaking since I had my surgery and I don't know why but when you've had a break it does seem harder to get going again. I needed a card for a birthday coming up shortly so here it is. I used a NBUS set of stamps by Woodware called Looking Good which isn't readily available at the moment.
I started by die cutting a stitched square using a snippet of white card. I then stamped and heat embossed the three largest of the stamps using Versafine Majestic Blue ink and WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder.
I then coloured the background with Ultramarine and Leaf Green Brushos. I sprinkled the colours on to my glass mat and spritzed with water and laid the card over it. I did each colour separately and then dried before applying the next. As I wanted a bit more blue I added more colour by sprinkling straight on to the card and again spritzing with water. It still didn't seem to be quite right so I used a dark blue and light green Lyra Aqua Marker and in the same way applied them to the mat, spritzed and then applied the card to it. Although I dried each application of colour before adding more the card stretched somewhat and creased a bit but I decided to go with it. I coloured the images using the two marker colours, i.e. blue on the tie, trousers and shoes, and the green on the shirt and socks, but it is quite subtle as I used the ink with my waterbrush.
I finished the card by layering it up on to a royal blue colour card and added the sentiment using the Versafine Majestic Blue and again heat embossed with the Clear Gloss EP.
Thank you for joining me here today and I hope to see you again soon.

Hello Pat, what a fabulous card, I love how you have placed the images and your colours are brilliant, beautifully designed. I know what you mean about getting started again, I've always to give myself a push. Hope you are well and much improved, Kate x
A great card Pat, I like the colours you used and the super stamps. I've not tried using Brushos in that way, must give it a try.
Hope you are soon fully recovered from the surgery, and that the craft mojo returns.

Great work with your brushos and a super masculine make.
Thanks so much for sharing with us at Less is More, Anita x
Gorgeous card, the colours are beautiful. Sorry i had not seen your post about your surgery, I hope you are healing well and feeling much better! Your anniversary card with hearts in previous post is gorgeous. I know what you mean about getting back into creativity as I seems like the more you use it, the more it flows. But sometimes I find a rest is re-energizing as well. I'm very anxious to get back to a craft room with all my stash around me :) Take good care of yourself, Shirley xx ps.. thanks for your kind words at my blog, it's appreciated :)
Yes, your card really looks good, Pat! It is fantastic! I love the beautiful colours and your technique! Kisses, my friend.
I love this, Pat! You don't seem the least bit rusty to me!! What great masculine images and what a great way to work with them! Love the colors!! Hugs, Darnell
I absolutely adore the way this card turned out! I've never seen anything quite like it and am totally impressed with your originality. It reminded me of abstract art (the best kind), and stained glass (the prettiest windows). This is a very clever way to attach a masculine card and I love how it is both totally recognizable as "manly," but thoroughly unique! Thank you for sharing something so inspiring with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
Love your masculine card. The brushos look fabulous with this great stamp.
Hope you are feeling stronger each and every day!
Hi Pat, first of all apologies as I'm a little behind with my commenting. I'm pleased to hear that you're recovering well from your surgery. I had major surgery in 2009 and i couldn't do much other than card making cards, so it kept me going but I do understand what you mean about when you've a had a break. I find it the same when I loose my mojo. I look at all my stuff and just don't know where to start, so I guess we're all the same. Your card is lovely and I like the combination of inks and Brushos. Keep up the good work and get well soon. Crafty hugs, Sandra x
Such a great effect with those brusho's and by drying in between you have found a way of controlling them so beautifully x Love the stamps too and that you stamped them in blue...love this card Pat x
Love the way you have described making this card. The result is rather lovely and those shades really do compliment one another. Hugs Mrs A.
Hi Pat, what cool imagery and gorgeous use of color. Biggest congrats on being in the SSS spotlight! Hugs, Autumn
Hi Pat, a super card for a bloke, love the soft colouring of the tie, shoes and pants, looks like you got the inks in all the right places. Have a wonderful week... Megan GD Snippets Playground
I've not been around regularly Pat so didn't realise you'd had an operation. I do hope you are recovering well and feeling a little stronger now.
I love this card. I've not seen those stamps before but they are really nice. I love the colours you've used and the extra colour added to the clothes works really well. Hugs, Barbxx
