I used Brushos on the background, Scarlet and Brilliant Red, Ultramarine and Lemon. I also coloured the cactus with the Brushos using a waterbrush, and they covered the image well considering the background was quite a bright colour, although where I stamped in the middle was lighter.
I used orange, yellow and red for the flowers and yellow with the emerald green for the cactus itself. I added white in places using a gel pen for highlights, and shaded around the cactus base with some brown to ground it. I also darkened the yellow around the cactus itself to make it stand out more from the background.
I finished by adding the sentiment using Black Archival and heat set again using the Clear Gloss EP. I die cut it using a Crealies Pierced Rectangle and backed it with a snippet of black card before mounting it on to an approximately 7" x 5" white card.
Thank you for joining me today.
I am entering the following challenges:
Pixie's Crafty Workshop - No 329 where we use our snippets of card and paper etc.

What a marvelous use of a brusho background. You've covered the background splendidly with the cactus colors (gel pen was a great idea too!) and I love the halo of yellow around the plants. I've not tried coloring like this with Brushos and a water brush as yet. Well done, Pat. TFS & Hugs- Happy weekend.
Well Pat - you have excelled yourself here! What a fab card. Great background and wonderful colours. x
Brilliant card, Pat. The Brusho snippet is beautiful and makes a lovely background for the cactus. xx
Beautiful card Pat! LOVE that brushos background and the watercolouring with Brushos. Your cacti are so pretty!! I have not tried watercolouring with Brushos, but they really do make a statement with their bright, saturated colours. Love it! xx
Your cactus is lovely, Pat.
Thanks for visiting my blog and for leaving a lovely comment. The retreat was free but only accessible for the weekend (hence now being locked - sorry). It was a taster of tutorials from a number of their artists and designed to introduce us and to encourage us to sign up (and pay) for online classes. Some of them were way over my head but I felt I could tackle the one I did!!! As you saw, I'm not REALLY any kind of artist!!!

Your cactus looks so beautiful! Great deep colors and I love the white places where spikes grow from. It looks so realistically :-) And your watercolor background perfectly exposes the cactus.
Thank you for joining the challenge in HLS Watercolor.
