Hi there everybody. I am back today with an anniversary card for one of my cousins and husband who are celebrating their 55th anniversary. I thought this digital image from Beccy's Place called Girls' Night, was appropriate for a big celebration.
I don't generally use digital images but I thought that I would give them a try. I think probably I need to find some thicker card to print on to as this was just 160gsm and with my Staedtler Watercolour Brush Pens and a waterbrush which I used it was perhaps a bit too much for it. I tend to use 250/300gsm normally which my printer is not keen on.
I started by adding the colour to parts of the image using the waterbrush to spread it, and I then scribbled colour on to my glass mat and picked it up with the water brush, neither of which were working well, so I ended up adding colour straight to the image which made everything a bit dark, especially the champagne, more like orange juice..lol, and the carnations which I hoped would dry a bit lighter. I had limited time to post it so had to go with it. I finished by fussy cutting it.
I then made a stencil from a Sue Wilson Heart of Hearts die and inked through it on to the card using Adirondack Shell Pink, and Picked Raspberry and Dusty Concord Distress Inks blending quite lightly. The numbers were cut using a set of dies from The Works and coloured using the two DIs before being added to the heart. I then added the sentiment stamped a couple of times with Versafine Smokey Gray ink using the Misti. Lastly the image was stuck down flat with wet glue, easier for posting.
You can tell I am very self critical..lol, and at the moment Mr Mojo is playing up, but I suppose we all have times when things don't go too well, so hey ho...as my hubby would say, it is what it is. I hope you are managing to stay positive, and of course keeping well, through this difficult time.
I am entering the following challenges:
Beccy's Place April Challenge - Anything Goes using one of her images (opt. Flower or Foliage).
Watercooler Wednesday - No. 265 Anything Goes with a Feminine Twist.
Dutch Card Lovers - No. 328 Any Drink (alcoholic or non alcoholic).
so pretty Pat, love the champagne glass perfect for an anniversary card :) I've never tried digi images so good to know thinner card stock is not as good as the heavier stuff. I always use 110lb (250/300gsm):)
What a fab anniversary card Pat!
I very rarely use digis as my printer does not like anything over 225 gsm although feeding it in from the back (A3 printer) one sheet at a time I can get away with 250 - but 300 is a big No!
It will take mixed media 250 though for some inexplicable reason!
What a lovely card Pat and coloured beautifully. I don't use many digi images but I print mine out on Neenah card, if I'm using markers, it's smudging the printer ink that's the problem for me.
Keep safe, Kate x
Gorgeous anniversary card Pat, with a really lovely image. I love the stencilled heart too. I use digi stamps occasionally, but usually colour them with Promarkers, so 160gsm is fine if I'm making them image into a topper and matting them on stiffer card. Mr Mojo has been playing up with me too lately, it seems a common problem with lots of crafters at the moment. Hope you are keeping safe and well. xx
I love the colours Pat, I think a little more vibrancy adds oomph! Good on you for stepping out of your comfort zone and trying some new mediums. You've certainly done an awesome job, especially considering it was the first time you've used a digital image. Your cousin and her husband are sure to love it.
P.S. My printer reluctantly prints on 250gsm, but prefers 220. I buy it by the ream at Office Works.
A lovely card Pat and a very nice take on our challenge! Really appreciate you joining us at DCL!
I often use digital images.I like to adjust them to my wishes in Photoshop and also like the way you can change the size. If I use watercolourpaper I use Bristol Strathmoren 270 grams. But I understand your printer has problems with that, a pity.
What a festive glass of champagne for a 55th anniversary! Beautiful and stylish card, thank you for joining us at DCL.
Your champainge glass with flowers is beautiful Pat. Love the stenciled hearts in a heart. Your cousin is going to LOVE this card. 55 years --- wow! Congrats to them! xx
Great card with the glass on it! You used many techniques. Thank you for joining us at DCL!
what a lovely digi...looks great the way you coloured it.
What a wonderful milestone for your cousin...congrats to them
Such a beautiful card, thanks for joining us over at Dutch Card Lovers.
You are being self-critical Pat! It really is the most beautiful card. I love the shape of the glass and it looks beautifully coloured on my screen. The flowers too with their depth of colour - gorgeous! x
Delightful make and bound to be well received. I understand your frustration with the digi/card dilemma - I like to use 250-300gsm but my printer's not interested either! We are often our own worst critic, don't beat yourself - it's lovely
Beautiful card! Thanks for joining at Dutch Card Lovers. Ellen
What a milestone and what a wonderful and thoughtful card. Great to make your own stencil out of the die cut. Yes I would have the same problem about the quality of the card too and my printer simply would not take the heavier weights x. A glorious card Pat x.
I jammed my finger in the velux window, whilst closing it ....Yes very painful and have only been able to use my keyboard with one finger etc.... So I am sorry to be late in commenting x. Thinking of you and stay well my friend x.
I think it's wonderful and I bet they do too! Stay well Pat!
