Holly and Berries

Hi everyone.  I have just about managed to get my entry in for the CAS Christmas Card Challenge the theme of which is Winter Berries.  I used this digi stamp which I thought would be perfect and printed it on some Bristol Smooth watercolour paper.  I am still not completely confident using digital images and last time I used one I printed it in grey and the water affected the outline and faded it in places, so this time I did it in a very pale green so it was a bit like doing no line watercolouring, but then I did feel that made it much more difficult to colour the holly leaves and get the lines which are part of the texture of the leaves, and had to put back the lines and wasn't sure I did a very good job of it, and the bottom left leaf and piece of ribbon was not quite right, but I decided to enter it anyway as I was in fact extremely happy with the berries.  I feel I have been missing challenges which I normally like to enter through lack of mojo, and for me at the moment things work well or it begins to feel as though I have lost my creative skills entirely...lol, and I suppose I have just not been in the right frame of mind recently.

I coloured it using my Staedler Brush Pens and a bit of added shading using some dry watercolour pencils, and then blended some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink around the edges, and inked the sentiment with Versafine Deep Lagoon Ink before heat embossing it with WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder.

The CAS Christmas Challenge is based in Western Canada so although the clock has ticked over into the 25th I have a few hours to the close of the challenge.  Sorry to leave it so late Loll and Bonnie, I just wanted to enter.  Thank you for looking at my blog today and I hope to see you again soon.

I am also entering the following challenges:

ABC Christmas Challenge - J for 'Joy' and K for "King' ( I have 'Joy' as part of the sentiment.
Sparkles Christmas Challenge - No. 112 Add Ribbon, Lace or Twine (mine is a virtual ribbon as part of my digital image - hope this counts).
The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge - No. 72 Anything Christmas Goes.
Merry Little Christmas Challenge - No. 22 May Anything Christmas Goes.
Happy Little Stampers May Christmas Challenge - Anything Goes (Optional: Ornaments).

(So pleased and surprised to be chosen as one of the Outstanding Designs at CAS Christmas Challenge)

Well done for getting this in ahead of the deadline, great card. So many people seem to have lost their mojo during these unprecedented times which I suppose isn't really surprising. I'm finding it good to try and do something crafty each day even if it is only making some inky backgrounds or colouring images (either digital or stamped). They don't always immediately get made into cards but they are there when the mood takes me. Take care

It's a beautiful card Pat, beautifully designed and coloured. It's a lovely image too. I am never confident with digi images either, and I find that the ink does run a bit, Kate x x
