Hi everybody. Well, it hasn't happened for quite a while luckily, but I had to make a sympathy card for a lady who is the former leader of a local choir which I belong to, and sadly her husband died having had dementia for quite some time and then latterly caught the virus whilst in hospital. I have used a Funky Fossil Leafy Mandala Stencil and also a bird silhouette stamp from a Chocolate Baroque set called Let Your Heart Sing.
I decided on a piece of light grey card and using a stencil brush and Iced Spruce Distress Ink I placed the mandala over the corner of the card and then heat embossed it using WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder. I then added the silhouette bird in the bottom corner to balance it up, using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink and then stamped bits of it using second and third generation ink, and finished by adding the sentiment over the mandala using the Nocturne ink.
I thought that it would stamp OK over the embossing but it didn't come out as well as I had hoped so I used a black micron pen and went over it and then making sure the heat tool was really hot dried if off as quickly as I could so that it didn't make the embossing go too grainy. I think I just about managed to get away with it...lol.
Thank you for visiting me here today and I'll see you again soon.

Always sad when we need one of these cards but this one is beautiful
It is very sad when we have to make these cards. I have to say that I probably find it easier to make them at a time when I don't actually need to use them. I'm sure that your friend will really appreciate it Pat. The stencil looks really pretty and works really well with the CB stamp. Take care and have a good weekend x
A really beautiful card and perfect for the sad occasion Pat x. Great save with the sentiment and the grey cardstock with the stamping and stencilling looks wonderful x.
A beautiful card for your friend, Pat. They are difficult to make xxx
Always such difficult card to make Pat and somehow seems so much hard during these difficult times when so many contract the virus when in hospital for something quite unrelated.
I think the colours you have chose are perfect for the occasion and what a nice idea to emboss the mandala to give some added dimension, I am sure it will be well received.
As always it's lovely to have you join us at We Love Chocolate Baroque, thank you so much for taking the time.
Beautiful and peaceful sympathy card, Pat. I love your choice of colours for card stock and ink. I know that your friend will appreciate this beautiful card to honour her husband. xx
Looks like you got away with it perfectly, Pat! Such a classy card! Love that bird stamp and the embossed mandala! So sorry you needed a sympathy card. Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
Wow Pat gorgeous tone on tone and perfect for a sympathy card and great save with the micron pen.
Sympathy cards are always tough to make but so appreciated by the recipient. I'm sure your friend will cherish this beautiful card and the thoughts behind it.
The combination of the mandala with heatembossing and the bird and branches is beautiful and I would never have guessed that you used a Micron pen for the textstamp! I am sure this lady will be comforted by your lovely card.
Never easy cards to make Pat, but your card here is stunning, you've designed it beautifully and I do love the mono shades you've chosen, I'm sure it will be very much appreciated, Kate x
How beautiful this is, and thoughtfully designed for your friend. Prettiest mandala I've seen. You pulled it off with the sentiment. I can't see a single thing wrong with it. It's so lovely to see this in our CAS Mix Up gallery.
Eine zauberhafte Karte.
Vielen Dank für deine Teilnahme bei den Sweet Stampers.
FAB make though, naturally, I'm so sorry that you've had to make one. Many of us crafters have found ourselves in this situation of late - all the best
Oh Christine this is the perfect card for your friend... She will no doubt be so appreciative of your kindness as well as your talent, it's beautiful!
Sadly, we do need this type of card occasionally (lately, too much). Your card is lovely, especially, your sentiment treatment. It looks amazing over the embossed mandala. Thank you for joining us at CAS Mix UP.
