I started by die cutting the stack of books twice from pieces of white card, and stuck them together to make them more substantial. I chose some different colours of Distress Inks and first I watercoloured the book pages using some paler grey and brown tones, and then started with three or four stronger colours of red, light blue, darker blue, green and brown for the covers using a waterbrush to add the colour from my glass mat. I finished by adding a bit of pencil to sharpen edges and I also added some gold and silver pen to some of the book spines and the two bookmarks hanging out of the books, and made some pencil marks to represent a bit of writing here and there. I also added the name on one and then happy and birthday on another couple of the books. I finished by adding a piece of background white card on which I dry embossed the Bubbles 2 Stencil, and then attached the book stack over the top adding some foam tape to the back for dimension and then added the sentiment banner clear embossed with WOW Metallic Gold Embossing Powder.

I can see why you wanted this die, Pat, especially when you can have such fun coloring the covers and personalizing the spines like you did. Very clever! Love the e/f, too, and the flag sediment! Thank you for inspiring everyone at NBUS! It also fits perfectly on the I.D.E.A.S. PB with your watercoloring and pencil artwork, so I'll add it, if you don't mind? Hugs, Darnell
Super card, Pat. I love the image of the pile of books and the lovely embossing background.

Love the way you coloured the stack of books and added the recipient's name to one book spine, and "happy birthday" to two of the others. It's a great die (I'm a retired librarian so of course I love it!!).
Works very well for a masculine card Pat, it's lovely to see you at Allsorts challenge, many thanks for joining in and following the bingo grid.

The book die was certainly a good buy for you and I'm sure you will find it very useful for both male and female cards. So many people like to read and a card featuring books is a good choice for making something a bit different.
A lovely card design. Thanks for sharing at Allsorts this week.
