I started with a piece of acetate and covered the bee stamp with Zig glue with a wide flat nib applicator which makes it easier to spread the glue over the stamp, and having made sure all the stamp looked amply covered I stamped it using my stamp positioner for more accuracy and if an extra application of glue should be needed. I did apply the glue again and stamped once more and then very quickly laid it on some paper and covered it with plenty of gilding flakes and pressed down making sure they made good contact with the glued image and then left them like that for a few minutes before very carefully brushing away the surplus flakes with my fingers, and then I used the scoochy to burnish it. I won't say it was a perfect outline but I had already decided to cut the bee out and I refined the edges as I cut it, especially on the legs where the flakes had spread so I did cut the outlines back a bit looking at the photo on the front of the stamp to see how it should look, and I did scratch off the flakes where I thought the eyes should be and added a bit of copper Sharpie pen over those. Then I went on to stencil the honeycomb onto the centre area of a piece of square white card cut to fit a 6" square card base with a fairly narrow border. I coloured the paste with some yellow and and orange Brusho powders and then used the paste in the centre trying to keep the edges a little rough, and then left it to dry. I finished the background with a sentiment stamped with Versafine Vintage Sepia and heat embossed with WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder and I also added some foam tape down the centre of the bee to raise it up a little.

Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. - Week 4 'A' = Anything Goes.
For my second card I thought I would used a set of Creative Craft Products Torn Edge Stars and a Crafts Too Stars Embossing Folder which I have had for quite a long while and it is only now being used for the first time. I used one of the stars to cut an aperture in the centre of a piece of white card cut to fit a 6" square card and then used the Stars EF over it, extending it as it is an A6 size, and this worked well. I then cut a smaller star to fit inside the aperture using some acetate. I did intend to use some glue through a star stencil and then add the gilding flakes, but this did not work well and I tried several times but the small stars looked extremely blobby although I used a blending tool with a good covering of glue added to the sponge which I thought was the best way to do it. I then decided instead to cover the whole star with glue and then cover it with the flakes. I then backed this acetate star with another star cut from black card and then put the card together. I added a banner sentiment across it stamping with Versamark ink and heat embossed with WOW Metallic Brass Embossing Powder.

My last card is not made using the acetate but I will show it anyway as it is mounted onto the acetate instead. I used up some remnants of some very old gilding flakes covering a piece of white card with some adhesive sheet and then added the gilding flakes over this and then die cut some Spellbinder Bold Bloom flowers and leaves being used for the first time, and added these to the piece of acetate. I added a Reverse Scallop die cut frame from Crafter's Companion, also being used for the first time, and coloured it with a copper Sharpie pen, added a piece of blue card behind the acetate and a die cut sentiment which I cut from a piece of white card heat embossed with WOW Metallic Copper EP. On reflection I think the Metallic Brass I used on the last card would have matched a bit better but it does look a lighter colour in real life. This was mounted onto a 7" x 5" white card.
I am entering the above card in the following challenges:

I have to say I don't think acetate and I mix terribly well..lol, and I think that the Flitter Glue from Indigoblu is the best one for using with stamps for a good clear outline and I have used this in the past and it did work well with the flakes but I don't have any at present, and they do say you can use any glue but the other glues I have did not work so well for me. I think my last card has the look of the technique but was a bit of a cheat, but nevertheless I was pleased with it. The other ladies over at the GO7 have produced some beautiful cards so do take a look and if you give it a go there is a Linky at the bottom of the post for you to add your cards for us all to see.
Thank you for visiting me here today and I'll see you again soon.

Three beautiful cards, Pat. This looks like a really interesting technique. I've never used gilding flakes, this looks like another technique I need to investigate.

Three beautiful cards Pat. I love that you've used the gilding flakes on acetate three different ways, showing the versatility of this technique!! Your bee is so pretty, especially over the textured and coloured stenciled paste. Awesome. Your jagged-edged star is amazing ... LOVE IT! To me, it looks like it's very old - so cool. Beautiful with the matching dry embossed stars and star framing. And your flowers are gorgeous. Add gilding flakes to panels of card and die-cutting is one of the best ways to use them. Less mess as you can make multiples of "gilding fakes card" to have on hand. Love the dimension that shows with the die-cuts on acetate. I have a few hacks for you ... gilding flake glue is the best to use, because you let it dry (which leaves it tacky to adhere the flakes). If you are using regular glue, you need to use very little. You have to add gilding flakes to the glue when it's wet, so if there's any build-up, and you press the flakes, it distorts the image. Same if you are stenciling with regular glue. I'll add a note on our Gof7 post. Thank you!! xx
Your cards are beautiful, anyone who receives them with consider them a treasure.
Three wonderful cards, your bee stamped perfectly I love all framing around the star. You reminded me to add Gilding flakes to card and die cut, the die cuts are so beautiful ♥
Wow Pat your cards are fabulous! I love how you shown this technique in so many different ways. I’m itching to have a go. Thanks for sharing the process xxx
That technique is a new one on me and I can't help thinking that using glue which will dry to a tacky finish would be the best option although I've yet to try it. Love your cards anyway and thank you for joining in with the song theme at Allsorts (with your 'falling star')
Beautiful work. I particularly love the last card it reminds me of decorative carved flowers. Your star card is a great design and good use of gilding flakes. Thanks for sharing it with us at Allsorts.
Three stunning cards Pat! I came over to check out the gorgeous bee I saw in Darnell's IDEAS gallery but the other two are also gorgeous and so worth the trip! I have gilding flakes set aside for when I can find time time to experiment (probably not this year LOL)!
Each one of these cards is absolutely beautiful! Such gorgeous colors and wonderful CAS designs! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Allsorts challenge!

Three lovely designs Pat - the honeycomb looks so much like sticky honey with the colored paste - and the gilded acetate bee looks wonderful layered over it! Your gilded star really shines front and center inside the die cut out and surrounded by the embossed stars. The gilded die cut florals are beautiful over the acetate and framed in the scallop edge - we are all allowed to fall off the track and use the supplies in different ways! Julia xx
All the cards are beautifully creative! I have lots of gilding flakes and you have inspired me to use them!

Love the idea of fussy cutting the stamped gilding flake image like in your first card. The second card looks great with the black die cut behind it. Great way to use up remants of gilding flakes on the last one - I have a pot I've put all the bits of gilding flakes I've scrubbed off my projects so I think I'll use them up the same way!
Your have succeeded with this technique, Pat! Three fabulous cards here! Love that bee and the textured honey comb! The star is amazing and so is that darling flower!
i think all three cards are very beautiful, but love the one with the bee and honeycomb the best! So lovely!
The second one very pretty too and love how the star is reapated in the embossing and cut-out. And the last so elegant with the pretty flowerbunch and scalloped frame! I have never heard of this technique, you did a wonderful job!
3 wonderful cards Pat and I think you've showcased the acetate and gilding flakes technique beautifully, the bee looks fab on her honeycomb and the layered stars are gorgeous. I might have to CASE your florals diecut from the gilded cardstock, love the look of them mounted on acetate. Thankyou too for playing along at STB, Cathy x
All beautiful cards love the first CAS card with the honeycomb background and gilding flakes Bee. Thank you for joining us at Stamping Sensations.

WOW! You have shown the technique beautifully. I love the bee with its golden wings and body. The star card is clever and beautiful. I love the embossing, a lovely coordinated card. Your third card shows the die cut flowers off elegantly, with the lovely frame and set on acetate. Love them all. x
Your trio of gilded loveliness is beautiful Pat. I bet each card is super shiny IRL. Xxx
All three cards are terrific, Pat. That bee is so cool and I like the variegated colors in your star. The last card with the flowers is beautiful with a lovely shine.
Beautiful star card - love the star embossing folder background.

All three are just gorgeous, Pat! I love the look of the flakes, so rich and elegant, but it is a ton of work and mess getting there. Great job persevering and being so creative! My favorite - and I keep going back to look at it - is the first bee design! That bee looks absolutely real!! Thank you for using this week's I.D.E.A.S. Calendar to motivate others!📌 Hugs, Darnell
All of your cards are wonderful Pat! I have never used gilding flakes before - the effect is lovely! The flowers on your happy birthday card are absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for joining us at Seize the Birthday.
