Hi there. I decided to try this technique after watching a video by Jennifer McGuire, quite recently actually. I used a heart stamp by Creative Expressions called Heart of Blossoms which I only got recently to make anniversary cards with.
I started the technique following Jennifer's instructions, by covering a piece of white card with a very thick layer of Distress Oxide ink in Salty Ocean. When it was dry using my Misti I inked the stamp up with a paler colour of Oxide ink in Squeezed Lemonade which I then spritzed with a little water and stamped on to the inked card, but when it dried it was really difficult to see the outline of the image. The stamp that she used was more of a mandala shape geometrical stamp with more open space which perhaps was more suited the technique, and I thought maybe if I coloured in the flowers they would show up better so I used a waterbrush to bleach out some of the blue and added more Squeezed Lemonade Oxide ink to the larger flowers and also a bit of ordinary Distress Ink in Blueprint Sketch to the smaller ones, and then some Carved Pumpkin Oxide to the centres of he flowers. This did look slightly better but still wasn't sure I liked it.
Finally I put the piece of card back in the Misti which luckily still had the stamp attached to it, and inked it with Majestic Blue Versafine Ink and this has given the image more structure. I then added a sentiment using the same blue ink. This is obviously not the same techique as demonstrated by Jennifer, but still something I have never done before so a partial success.
Thank you for visiting me here today and I hope to see you again soon.

A very pretty creation Pat, just prove that inkiness and style do go together (can never convince hubby mu no 1 critic of that). Perfect for our themes at Stamping Sensations and Penny Black and More, many thanks for joining in at both.
And so pleased to know you made the GDT at CB, look forward to seeing more of what you make.
A beautiful card Pat and it’s always interesting to read what techniques you’ve used. I love using Oxides too, especially with water or bleach. I really like the subtle colours that you’ve achieved and your CAS layout too. Thank you for sharing this with us at Stamping Sensations and good luck. Crafty hugs, Sandra x
Such a pretty and very soft heart bouquet. Now you have a reason to try the technique again, my friend. Always fun to learn new techniques, even if they do not turn out exactly how we had hoped. TFS Pat. Hugs..
Great save Pat and even though it wasn't originally what you intended, it came out beautifully anyway! Thanks for sharing it with us at Addicted to Stamps and More and I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful creations again soon! Hugs, Gwendolyn
That flower in heart shape is adorable Pat
simple but beautiful
sweet Anniversary card
Many thanks to joining with us at ATSM this time
I saw that video, and I think the stamp used must make a lot of difference to the final look too. I also think your version of the technique on this pretty floral heart is equally lovely. I love how you started trying different things to get this to look how you wanted. I believe you succeeded admirably, as the final result is beautiful. Just as much so as Jennifer's was! Well done. TFS & Hugs. Happy Mother's Day.
Always good to try out different techniques and then make them your own. Great idea to bleach and then to colour in the lemonade. Such a pretty card and thank you for the tip about perhaps a more geometric, open stamp to try next time x
This turned out so well Pat. Even though it wasn't what you initially wanted to do, it has turned into a gorgeous card with your willingness to experiment and just keep going. The colours from the bleaching and re-inking are so pretty against the bold blue background. Great work! xx
Gorgeous creation, thanks for joining Stamping Sensations and Penny Black & More, good luck.
Thank you for sharing at Penny Black & More and good luck x Susan x
