CAS Poppies for April

Hi everybody.  I adore poppies and so this month's CAS Watercolour Card Challenge, run by Loll and Bonnie, is right up my street...lol.  I saw this very traditional poppy image by Sheena Douglass from her A Little Bit Sketchy range called Perfect Poppies, and so I just had to get it to use for the challenge and it was really lovely to colour.

I used Candied Apple, Fired Brick, Carved Pumpkin, Dusty Concord and Peeled Paint Distress Inks applied with a waterbrush.  I then cut the mat with a Crealies Pierced Rectangle and then on another piece of white card I cut this again using the same size die and one a size smaller to make a frame to place over the top.

I then finished it with a gold embossed sentiment and adhered it to a  7" x 5" white card.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today and I hope to see you again soon.

I am also entering the following challenges:

Simon Says Monday Challenge - Beautiful Blooms.
Uniko Challenge - No. 52 Spring (no twist).
Stamping Sensations - April Showers Bring May Flowers (flowers/flowers and showers).
Penny Black and More April Challenge - Spring.

Artistic Stamper - New Growth.

What wonderful colors and shading on these poppies, Pat! The narrow frame is perfect for showing them off! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at CAS Watercolour!

"Perfect Poppies' sums up your beautiful creation perfectly Pat, the blooms are coloured to perfection and the simple yet classic white on white matting really lets the Poppies take centre stage.

No secret that Poppies are my favourite flower so this ticks all the right boxes for me and I am so happy to see your pretty card linked up to Stamping Sensations and Penny Black and More challenges, thank you.

I can see why you had to get this poppy image, Patt ... it's so beautiful. In your hands, it is AMAZING! Seriously LOVE your watertcolouring and colours. Adding that little bit of purple is so unexpected, but so perfect. Great design with all that lovely white space to have the poppies be the star of the card. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour! xx

This is so beautiful Pat and your colouring of the Poppies is absolutely perfect, they look so lifelike. I really like your CAS layout and the sentiment is so poignant and works really well with the main focal image. The touch of gold gives your card a feeling of opulence and makes a perfect finish. I love it! Thank you for joining us in our 'April Showers Bring May Flowers' challenge at Stamping Sensations and good luck. Sandra x
